Main Street Market opened 26 years ago today! We opened the Wednesday before Labor Day weekend – crazy, right? We were planning to open at the normal time of 8:00 am, but weren’t quite ready so did not open the doors until noon.
Here’s the other crazy thing – we were all so young! Dave and Vonnie were in their 40’s, Steve and I in our 20’s! Adam was a little boy; Sam and Regan were not yet born.
Building a grocery store in Egg Harbor seemed a bit of a risk in 1987. Dave and Vonnie may have realized that more than Steve and I, but we hoped we could make it work. I don’t think we envisioned the Main Street Market of today 26 years ago. It has certainly been an experience!
