Main Street Market and Door County’s Door Community Auditorium have a long history. Both Dave and I have served on the Board of Directors, me currently. Both have been Presidents of said BOD – and Main Street Market is a sponsor of several shows a season.
Being a show sponsor is cool. You get special seats and parking, your name and logo displayed on the show media and you are included in the announcement from the stage before the show begins.
As great as all that stuff, the best perk to being a sponsor is that you get to meet the artists. In person. And get your picture taken with them. Sometimes they are quite chatty. Most of them are really nice and happy to be in Door County and at DCA. Now that is cool. Super cool.
Over the past 20+ years we’ve met some pretty incredible people. Lyle Lovett, Josh Turner, Mary Wilson, Ed Asner, Bob Newhart, Steve Earle, John Hiatt, The Lumineers, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Lee Ann Womack, Kathy Mattea – and many more. One of these days (during the winter-ha), I am going to compile a list!
This Friday, we are are sponsoring Three Dog Night. These guys were wildly popular during our school years – and I think I am actually going to get Steve to come with me to the concert!
There are still some tickets available. I am sure it will be a great kickoff to DCA’s 25th Season. We will post a picture with the band after the show!
